Hey y’all, hope you’re doing great? Well, I’m glad you’re here :). You know, the strangest thing happened to me today. So, I took a look in my closet and found that a good 85% of my clothes are thrifted! Crazy, right? Well, I don’t thrift my shoes so I’d say, all the money I save from thrifting gets lost in my shoes (I like most other gals love me some shoes ;))
My thrift store strategy
I’ll admit, I don’t go to thrift stores with any particular items or outfits in mind, I just throw all the items that catch my eye into the cart and by the time I’m ready to check out, I narrow it down to my favorite pieces.
The funny part is, I always, somehow tend to find another piece in my closet that works. Oh, by the way, don’t procrastinate at a thrift store or you’ll lose big time.
I kid you not, my biggest loss till date was a vintage turntable I saw at a store right after the pandemic. I went in without a cart as we were all still kind of scared to be out and about so, instead of grabbing a cart, I put both hands to good use wrapping a scarf around my face (in addition to my mask, lol!) then behold, there it was. I checked it out, it was working! I mean, it was just perfect and all I had to do was go back out and grab a cart but thought I’d come get it the next day. Well, I did but it was long gone!
I swear, I still have nightmares about that turntable. So, the moral of my parable is this, “Get it today, not tomorrow for it might be gone before you do a double take”, lol!
All digression aside, are you ready to see some of the wonderful pieces I’ve been lucky to find? Yes? Let’s get started then.
Amazing thrift store vintage finds
First up, I have this gorgeous, Ann Tjian for Kenar dress:
I’m not certain on the price but I believe I got this got this gorgeous dress for about $8 many, many years ago.
The next item on my haul would be, this Melrose two piece outfit:
I got this one not too long ago at a now closed DAV thrift store in my city which is makes me quite sad as it was hands down, my favorite place to thrift and they seemed to be doing really well as a business, given the sheer number of people you’d see at this store each time it was open but hey, it was fun while it lasted. The price tag on this one says $8.95 but, I went on a Wednesday so would have gotten this 30% off that tag price 🙂
Next up in the haul is this Connie Choi dress that I got at one of our local Salvation Army stores:
Got this for 30% off the $8.99 price, how did I do on this one?
Next, check out this Dorothy Schoelen, platinum two piece (belt thrifted too but not part of set):
This I also got at the now closed DAV thrift for 30% off the price tag of $24.95. I haven’t gotten a chance to wear it any where yet but I bet it’d be a stand out outfit.
For some funny reason, I keep buying these Bond/Disney villainesque dresses, lol! I swear, I have at least 10 of them!
Somebody hit me up with an invite their next convention, many thanks in advance!
Next we’re suiting it up:
Check out the touch of pink in the cuff and collar areas :). Got this for 30% off the tag price of $24.95. Oh, this is a Kasper 2 piece by the way.
Check out this blazer from Kasper:
This one was an absolute steal at 30% off $4.95
Another one:
Also 30% off $4.95.
Next, let’s wrap it up with this gorgeous dress from Love, fire:
This is the only item I got for the tag price, not necessarily because I wanted to but because I felt bad putting it back after she’d rung it up, lol. This I got for $14.99(always confirm the discount colors of the day, lol!)
That’s all for volume one, I hope you enjoyed looking at these? I have so many thrifted outfits so doubt I’ll be able to exhaust the complete lot of them but I’ll share as many as I can manage. Check out your local thrift store(s); you never know what you could find.
Take care now!
