Hello and welcome back to the blog. Today we’ll be talking about all things leather. Now don’t you just love a well made, full grain leather item? Me? I do, especially when it’s a little worn as this gives it a tad more character in my book. Isn’t there just something about leather that spells, edgy or cool? Yes, right? This would be why any item made of leather and in good condition that I spot at the thrift store isn’t safe, lol! Word of caution though, as you’d expect, any merchandise made of real leather at a thrift store would be in high demand and subsequently get snatched up pretty quickly. Some of these pieces get priced pretty high so, see an item you like? Grab it with the quickness but, pay attention to the prices though and any sales that could help knock down said prices some. That said, let’s get on with these thrift store, leather finds.
Thrift Store Leather Finds:
Number one: At number one I have this brown, leather Coach bag:
I picked this up at a Value thrift store some years back for under $10 and was super thrilled as it was the first purse I’d gotten from the thrift store that wasn’t black. What I especially like about this one is how much stuff I can fit in it and the fact that the interior is also made of leather which means, I don’t have to worry about the interior of the bag ‘shedding’ as time goes by. Yeah, this definitely is a good leather find in my book and deserves a spot on my list.
Number Two: At number two would be this black vest by a brand called, Sun River, that I totally adore:
I picked this one up at the DAV thrift store that I keep yapping about, for way under $10 and was shocked to see that it was made of real leather. Would you check out the amazing embroidery detail to it? Stunning right? With a price point of about five bucks, this definitely had to make it to this top ten thrifted leather finds list or it wouldn’t sit well with me.
Number Three: At number three, I have this Lord and Taylor Shacket that I also picked up at the DAV thrift store a few years back:
Now, for this item, I truly cannot be certain if it’s vintage or not but, what I can say is how much I love this shacket. Who doesn’t like a good Shacket? I know I do but, to find one made of leather and brown at that? I think I hit the jackpot with this one and you wouldn’t believe it but I got this for just a little over $10. Pretty cool, huh?
Number Four: Coming in at number four would be this Wilson Leather Jacket I picked up in San Antonio on my birthday:
I actually paid the tag price as I was there just for my birthday and wouldn’t be there on the actual tag sale day 🙁 but since I liked the item quite a bit and was treating myself for my birthday, I couldn’t leave it behind.
Yeah, I’m so glad I didn’t leave it behind cos, remember what I said about items I do really, really, like that I leave behind at the thrift store haunting my dreams? I wasn’t having any of that 🙂
Number Five: Sitting pretty at number five is this red hot, snake print style leather belt that I picked up at Alamo thrift:
This little beauty cost me less than $5 which is just amazing for how unique it is but that’s the magic of thrifting, right? I think this belt would be a nice pop of color to an all black outfit or to jazz up a green outfit in need of a little pizazz.
Number Six: At number six, is one you should have seen on my top twenty list which would be this Wilson Leather Trench Coat:
I really love this piece and if it made it to my top twenty thrift store finds, it definitely had to make it to my top leather finds list 🙂 How would you style a black leather trench coat?
Number Seven: Coming in at number seven would be this Liquid Leather Western style belt:
The unique style of this belt can really make an outfit stand out and cinch in your waist while at it, which makes it not only a statement piece but a functional one at that.
Number Eight: At number eight, behold, The Bolo tie:
This cute, little accessory could go with most anything as I see it being the finishing touch to say, an all black outfit to give it a little something extra or maybe, even to give some contrast to a formal outfit like a suit, to take it from ‘really serious’ to business casual.
Number Nine: The second to the last item on this top ten thrift store leather finds would be this grey leather jack:
I got this at a Salvation Army thrift store not too long ago for the tag price of $12.99 as it was not the tag color of the day but being that I didn’t know when I’d be heading to that thrift store again, I got it and I’m really glad I did as it’s quite unique in my book and seeing that it would be the first grey leather jacket I’ve found at a thrift store, I couldn’t pass it up, could I? Still not sure how I’d be styling this but I see myself paring it with something red for a bit of contrast.
Number Ten: The tenth and final entry on this top ten list would be this black, leather studded belt I’d gotten at the DAV thrift store many years ago:
I definitely got this beauty for less than $10 which was pretty awesome and for such a unique piece, I couldn’t be happier with the purchase. How would I style this piece? Well, being that it’s an accessory, I’d throw this over a simple outfit to make it pop and give it a little bit of an edge as I think it’d make for a fine statement piece 🙂
That’s it for this top ten leather thrift store finds, I hope you had as much fun checking it out as I did putting it together. I’ll see you on my next post but till then, do take care of you and happy thrifting!
